Honor 7 - The latest flagship from Huawei

Honor 7, the latest flagship from Honor launched today with great hardware specification and as always with lower price point. The latest phone is all metal body just like the previous Honor 6 Plus and that is great because one of the biggest gripe of Honor 6 user is the plastic feels. Lets look at what this latest flagship from Honor is bringing to the table after the jump

Hardware

Honor 7 utilizing the latest and greatest SoC from Huawei in Kirin 935, the same Kirin processor being used for the Huawei P8 flagship. Its not your top of the line SoC like the Exynos 7420 but it will get the job done and would be faster than any mid tier chipsets available in the market. Kirin 935 is an octa-core system with 8 ARM a53 chip with 2 cluster that run on different clock speed. Its essentially a symmetrical design running like a big.LITTLE configuration. The biggest drawback when using only a53 chipset is the chip itself is not meant for high processing power and more of power efficiency thus making this chip a cooler system than A57 powered Snapdragon 810.

Design
Honor 7 looks like an upgrade of last year Honor 6 and that by itself is already a good thing. The first impression that you get is the design language is still similar with the earlier Honor 6 but with a welcomed upgrade in having an all metal body. The new all metal body bring the feeling of quality that Honor phone required to make it in the current market.

Camera

Honor 7 uses the latest Sony sensor in the IMX230 that could give this phone an edge over other flagship currently in the market. With it 20MP image capture that is even higher that the one on Huawei P8 but lacking the OIS from Huawei P8. Other camera highlights is the PDAF style auto focus that will focus within 0.1 second giving a clear focus image every time. Honor 7 is also equipped with sapphire crystal, diamond 9H toughness for comprehensive protection for the lense.

 Software & Security and others
EMUI 3.1 come preloaded with the latest Honor 7 that run on top of Android 5 Lollipop that will give additional feature from previous EMUI 3.0 that was loaded on Honor 6. The biggest difference is the addition of a voice control system (now support chinese language) called Zhiling that would be your personal assistant in the mold of Microsofft Cortana or Apple Siri.

Honor 7 also intergrate finger print scanning for security and it looks exactly like the one available on the Huawei Mate 7 with the reader at the back.

We will update this once we have more detail and hopefully once we got our hand on one later this year. With same pricing CNY1999 for the basic model (16GB ROM, single SIM) and CNY2499 (32GB ROM, dual LTE, Gold colour) for the highest model available it is still considered as the best deal for the available hardware.
