Meizu MX5 - Official release with Helio X10 and 3GB RAM

Meizu has opened the veil on the most anticipated flagship killer of the year with their Meziu MX5. This is the successor to last year benchmark king (MX4) and this new model might also make the grade for the throne. Meizu is hardly a big name in other part of the world except china but they are making great stride in places that matter with the release of Ubuntu phone earlier this year and also the MX4 and MX4 Pro. One thing for sure, Meizu aggressive pricing would surely make other phone maker stand and notice while users all over the world would want to have one.

The new MX5 packs a pretty solid hardware with one of the first application of Mediatek's Helio X10 Turbo octa core processor. Helio X10 is a "true octa" system with all 8 core running on an impressive 2.2GHz clock speed. It also shipped with PowerVR G6200 GPU, 3GB LPDDR3 RAM with 3 option of internal storage available from 16 to 64GB. There is no option for external storage expansion.

On the camera front, Meizu MX5 still utilized the same sencor as MX4 with additional software enhancement and laser auto focus system. Coupled with the new 6P lens system, the tried and trusted IMX220 sensor from Sony shoots 21mp still photos, 4K UHD videos and 100fps slow motion video capture on 720p format. The front camera is a 5mp shooter with with f2 aperture.

The biggest change on this new MX5 is the use of Samsung's 5.5inch  super AMOLED screen that help lower power consumption  from the traditional LCD system used in MX4. It uses Gorilla glass 3 for screen protection. The phone ships with Meizu Flyme OS 4.5 android 5.1 operating system and what is interesting is that Meizu announce that they will post the Flyme source code to the open source community, this would attract phone enthusiast to build custom OS for the phone.

Just like MX4, MX5 also comes with finger print sensor for security that can be used in multi level system such as phone unlock, secure folder and files. Meizu manage to increase the battery capacity to 3150mAh in its all metal 7.6mm slim shell of 149.9mm tall and 74.7mm wide.
