Snapdragon powered Huawei - Is this the next Nexus?

Huawei recently release a snapdragon powered smartphone under a very low key unveiling. It might not be your top of the crop smartphone but once we were informed of this phone, something struck us, is this the next nexus? Earlier report was saying that Google would be releasing two new Nexus phones this year from two different manufacturer, LG and Huawei. A lot of people speculated that Huawei would not be building a tablet and LG would be building the flagship device so that would only leave Huawei to build a mid tier model.

We might be going on a long shot here because Nexus was never meant for Mid-tier market but with the current demand and the low acceptance on Android One experiment, this might be where Google would be heading with the Huawei collaboration. It would be the best way to tackle the current market where Google would be on a two prong assault on the High end and the mid tier device range.

Huawei have been using their own Kirin SoC for a while now and to have a phone with a Qualcomm chipset is something un-think of unless the same phone would be also sold as Nexus. The phone is question is the recently release Maimang 4 model that use the same metal body design as the Huawei G8 but with a different twist, an updated Snapdragron 616 Chipset with better radio support.

This Maimang 4 would be for now only available locally in China and that might be the way it is atleast until after September if what we are guessing is true. Google would want to have exclusivity for the rest of the world.

Like we said, this is really a long shot here but when Huawei using Snapdragon on a lower model while their flagship is using Kirin (Huawei P8), something might drove them to that decision.
